Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I’m writing to ask for your help. The people of Afghanistan are in dire need. This blessed month of Ramadan will be a great struggle for them. They lack basic needs such as food and provisions, shelter, and access to medical care. Their suffering is compounded by natural disasters (i.e. the recent devastating floods in Laghman Province) and escalating violence. While they are extremely resilient and proud people, their situation is growing more desperate with each passing day. If you have ever been touched by the courage in the face of tremendous adversity of the Afghan people, please consider making a donation, in any amount, to Raqim Foundation during this month of mercy and blessings. There is no better time to donate than this holy month where the rewards for your good deeds are multiplied and all your prayers accepted, as your donations go directly to the people without any overhead cost.

Raqim Foundation creates opportunities for the poorest and most vulnerable in Afghanistan - orphans, widows, the elderly, and the poorest families in the most neglected regions of the country. Our goal is to help promote education and vocational training in Afghanistan and to create a more hopeful future for the most needy in Afghanistan, so supporting our projects is a Sadaqa Jariyah that will earn you perpetual benefits and rahmah.

Results Matter: Here’s some of what past contributions have accomplished despite worsening security conditions in Afghanistan, the global economic downturn:

1. Kabul Orphanage vocational training in high-tech land surveying. Six students currently in the program, six graduates already making a living with the CAD/CAM skills. Six computers donated and three instructors now underwritten.

2. Gathered shipped by air and distributed one of the largest relief efforts, (according to USAID of vital clothing and educational supplies) to the rugged Bamyan province. Thousands of people received goods in five neglected impoverished provinces. Humbled by receiving significant media attention.

3. Established a health clinic in poverty stricken Sarghailan township of Badakhshan; now sees an average of 50 patients a day. Previously the closest health care facility was 100 miles away causing many deaths, particularly young pregnant mothers.

4. Makes possible both dental care and training of dental care providers in Kabul; now treating 35 patients a day and training 10-15 local care givers a year. Keeping this clinic open depends on you.

5. Provided two scholarships to two top needy students to enroll at the MBA program at the prestigious Lahore University of Management Sciences.

6. Partnered with Nooristan Foundation to finance, establish and equip a much needed elementary school for 300 students, in the remote village of Pasigam in Nooristan province. Now working with them to leverage funding and on the ground expertise and credibility.

7. We are extremely proud of our enduring partnership with Global partnership For Afghanistan, which the Clinton Global Initiative recently hailed as the most successful NGO in the world. We financed over 800 mini livelihood farms and are funding 10 GPFA funded scholarships/internships at Al-Beironi University in Kapisa. The training of war widows and their children in sustainable agro-business like orchard planting keeps growing at the grassroots level.

8. Attempting to bring telemedicine and training to remote rural villagers currently with no expert care.

We will do more with your help. But we are an all-volunteer organization that relies solely on your generous support. So please remember the need in this month and help transform their lives. May Allah (SWT) accept your Sadaqa Jariyah and Zakat during this Blessed month of Ramadan.
